Rehearsals
The orchestra meets weekly on Tuesday evenings, working on both modern and the great orchestral works, readying for audiences all over the Penobscot Bay region.
Twice a year, we hold open rehearsals, inviting those who might like to join us to come and read from works that we plan to perform. Open rehearsal for the start of our Spring Session was Tuesday, February 3, from 6 to 8 pm., with strings starting two weeks earlier, on January 20. The season will culminate with concerts May 9 and 12. Music will be available.
Contact us if you have questions, or would like to let us know
you will be there.
Performances
Our Spring 2026 Concerts dates are Saturday, May 9 at 4:00 pm in Belfast, and Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00 pm in Camden. We will be playing works of Brahms and Sibelius, plus a saxophone concerto by modern composer Hovahness, performed by Glen Sargent.
The Penobscot Bay Orchestra is in its 5th season, following an impressive start in 2021. The orchestra has been using the arts to stimulate and advance compassionate involvement in significant social issues, and has given over $5,000 in audience donations to the United Midcoast Charities, The Landing Place - Knox County Homeless Coalition, Healthy Lincoln County, the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry., Interfaith Fuel Fund, Habitat for Humanity, and Waldo County Bounty. We are now turning our attention to creating musical opportunities for our rural youth.
The orchestra's December concerts included music of Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Dohnanyi and a special flute concerto by our youth scholarship winner Miles Ortiz-Curtis.. The Camden concert was sponsored in part by First National Bank. For a list of the repertoire we have performed., click on the Repertoire link.
